Self-Piercing Rivet^®RIVSET^®The Rivset® System is a self-pierce riveting system designed to assemble sheetmetal without the need for a hole. The tool drives the rivet into the top layers of the joint and then spreads and forms within the bottom layer of the joint without penetrating it.
The Rivset® System makes fastening easy as it:

Does not need a hole-it is self piercing
Does not penetrate the bottom layer of material for a sealed joint
Rivets combined material layers as thick as .240 or 6,0mm
Can rivet dissimilar materials such as aluminum to steel
Does not produce heat, gas, dust, or electromagnetic waves
Correct installation is visually apparent

Rivset® rivets are manufactured by Bollhoff in 3 head styles head styles and several lengths to meet specific customer application requirements. Rivse®t Rivets are available in steel with an Almac alloy finish.

As you can see in the cross section photo at the left the installed Rivset® Rivet pierces the top layer of material and spreads within the bottom layer without penetrating it producing a gas and liquid tight joint. The rivet is driven into the work piece with a punch and compresses it into a lower die. The shape of the die causes the rivet to spread within the bottom layer locking the materials together.

There are several types of Rivset® installation tools available to fit most any application. The only requirement is that the tool must have clear access to the front and back side of the application.

The Rivset® CTF system pictured at the left is hydraulic and features a tape feed system. The Rivset® rivets are packaged on a plastic tape spool and fed automatically into the tool head. Activation of a foot pedal switch installs the rivet and the next rivet is cycled into position.

Eliminates re-loading of the tape feed type system

Reduces packaging cost of the rivet

The state of the art Rivset® system from Bollhoff, the ABF model pictured at the left, features a modular design with full PLC process monitoring using Bollhoff's proprietary software.

The ABF Rivset® system is ideal for robotic applications and is available with a dual blow feed system that can supply 2 different length rivets to the tool head to accommodate varied material thickness applications. The touch screen electronic control module can accommodate over 200 joint combinations.
