PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
The Rip'N Grip Hook and Loop fastener consists of two mating strips, one of whichis covered with tiny stiff hooks and the other with soft pliable loops. When the two mating strips are pressed together, the hooks and the loops engage to provide a secure yet adjustable closure. To open simply peel the fastener apart. Rip'N Grip fasteners can be opened and closed many times. The Rip'N Grip fastening products being described here are all woven materials containing 100% nylon fibers. Rip'N Grip components are woven with selvages along each edge to facilitate sewing.
The Hook materials have a stiffer hook with over 350 hooks per square inch. The Hook & loops components are also woven with selvages along each edge. The densley napped pile affords a continous mass of loops designed to engage to the hook tape.
Both Hook and Loop components are pre-shrunk to insure maximum dimensional stability and flatness. In addition the backside is coated with a polyurethane resin to insure uniformity and integrity.
ATTACHMENT
The R i p 'N G r i p Hook and Loop fasteners can be attached by sewing, special pre-coated adhesive backing, ultrasonic welding, and in some cases with staples.
SEWING
The Hook fastener is the most durable portion of the closure. The Loop portion is softer and more pliable. Therefore, when placing fastener components prior to sewing, it is generally better to have the Loop portion exposed to the skin or sensitive wooly fabrics. Generally the same thread used in fabrication of the item will attach Rip'N Grip fasteners. Seam strength values are directly related to thread size. Depending upon the application, there is a wide variety of stitch types appropiate.
